In a joint operation, the South African Police Service (SAPS) and the Durban Metro Police targeted illegal immigrants and their businesses in the Durban CBD. In response to the law enforcement presence, several suspected illegal immigrants took precautionary measures by closing their shops and fleeing the area to avoid arrest.
